First in France: FLYDE to deliver yachts by drone (featured in “Sophia Net”)

In its May 12, 2026 edition, Sophia Net — a leading media outlet covering the French Riviera’s innovation ecosystem — dedicates an article to FLYDE and the upcoming launch of its commercial drone delivery service for yachts.

Written by Jean-Pierre Largillet, the piece positions FLYDE as the first European startup to operate a regulated drone delivery network to yachts at anchor. It revisits the regulatory journey carried out over more than three years with the French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC), the Maritime Prefecture and Air Navigation Services, culminating in February 2026 with the granting of a generic SAIL II operational authorization — covering the entire Mediterranean basin.

The article also emphasises the infrastructure dimension of the project: 100% electric drones, no-contact winch systems, approved aerial corridors, real-time supervision by remote pilots. A new logistical layer that replaces motorised tenders between ports and yachts at anchor, with clear benefits in terms of time, cost and emissions.

The operational calendar is laid out: a final flight day at Port Gallice (Antibes) on May 21, 2026, opening of continuous commercial routes from June, then expansion to Cannes, Monaco and Porto Rotondo (Sardinia) from the summer onwards. Beyond the Riviera, FLYDE is targeting a Mediterranean rollout followed by the Caribbean, with the long-term ambition of building a global maritime drone delivery network.

The article highlights the local roots of the project: Roquebrune-Cap-Martin as headquarters, and a solid partner ecosystem including Côte d’Azur Airports, the CCI Nice Côte d’Azur and the Port of Monaco.
